Callie Keels is a Texan filmmaker and photographer whose work is as intimate as it is unique. Having lived in multiple countries, she is passionate about themes such as cultural identity, complex family dynamics and the concept of self worth in a world of differing, sometimes clashing, values. Stylistically, Callie works exclusively with analog film. Her work strikes a balance between dreamy feminine aesthetics and darker cinematic tones, a dichotomy true to who she is.
Callie has written and directed two short films. Blisters, a 1980s coming-of-age story set at the intersection of the real and the imagined, is her second short and marks her first time collaborating, as a co-writer and co-director, with fellow filmmaker Alia Wilhelm. Ttal, Callie's debut short film is currently in post production.
In addition to her personal film work, Callie has worked in the art department on multiple commercials, television shows, and films, including Robert Kolodny's The Featherweight, which premiered at the 80th Venice Biennale, Randall Park's directorial debut, Shortcomings. Prior to working in the art department, Callie worked in non-scripted television and documentary development with Megalomedia and Bat Bridge Entertainment, as well as in post-production on CNN's limited series, High Profits.
She balances her career in film with graphic design and photography and has had work featured in print and online publications, including Glamour and Allure magazines, and even designed the title and artwork for Katherine Propper’s film Lost Soulz, picked up by Kino Lorber in 2024.
